Description

Sultan Crown basmati rice comes from the Pusa 1121 variety, known for its extra-long grains that can reach up to 22 mm once cooked, without ever sticking together. Sourced from India, it releases a floral, slightly nutty aroma as soon as the cooking water starts to simmer. This grain length and fragrance make it a rice of choice for large celebration dishes: biryani cooked in quantity for a wedding, pilaf served at a madjliss, or a side dish for a family iftar. It comes in a 1 kg bag, for a family cooking day to day, up to a 20 kg bag, a size favoured by large households and shops that resell it by the kilo. Rinse the grains in clear water before cooking to remove excess starch, and store the rice in a cool, dry place to keep its fragrance intact until the next meal.
