Barni Royal Deluxe dates are graded premium quality (VIP) and grown in Medina, Saudi Arabia, a historic date-growing region. Their flesh is firm yet tender, releasing a subtle sweetness with caramel notes beneath a smooth, dark brown skin that is easy to recognise at a glance. Rich in fibre, minerals and antioxidants, they make a good snack on their own, work well folded into a dessert, or accompany coffee when family comes to visit. In the Comoros and across the diaspora, they hold a special place during Ramadan for breaking the fast, as well as at madjliss gatherings and other occasions where the table is dressed with care. Available in a 1 kg bag or a carton of 8 x 1 kg for large families and shopkeepers reselling by the piece, they keep for several months in a cool, dry place away from light.
